Over the past few years, we’ve seen strong turn into the new “skinny.” Instead of just being thin, more and more patients are coming in and asking us how they can look more toned and make their muscles more defined. The top two procedures on the market to tone and tighten the body are CoolTone™ and Emsculpt®, but which one is better?

What is CoolTone™?

CoolTone® is Allergan’s newest non-invasive body contouring procedure that uses cutting-edge Magnetic Muscle Stimulation technology to induce involuntary muscle contractions in the treated areas. Just one 30-minute CoolTone™ session can mimic a workout session including 20,000 crunches and 20,000 squats at the gym. Primarily used on the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs, CoolTone™ works best when paired with its sister treatment, CoolSculpting®, which helps get rid of stubborn fat that lies on top of those muscles.

What are the Benefits of CoolTone™?

  • Non-invasive treatment
  • Quick 30-minute sessions
  • Treats abdomen, thighs, and buttocks
  • Provides muscle growth with 50 percent more magnetic intensity than Emsculpt®

What is Emsculpt®?

Emsculpt® is the original non-invasive muscle toning treatment that was developed and released just a few years before CoolTone™. Emsculpt also treats the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs, but also treats the arms, with quick 30-minute treatment sessions. The difference between the two treatments lies in the technology they use. Emsculpt® uses HIFEM® technology to induce involuntary muscle contractions in the treated areas that help strengthen and tone the muscles.

What are the Benefits of Emsculpt®?

  • Non-invasive treatment
  • Quick, 30-minute sessions
  • Treats abdomen, thighs, buttocks, and arms
  • Proven average increase of 16 percent in muscle mass after multiple treatments

Is CoolTone™ or Emsculpt® Better for Me?

Ultimately, the choice to get CoolTone™ or Emsculpt® is up to you and your personal preferences. Dr. Austin wants to point out that CoolTone™ provides 50 percent more intensity per treatment than its counterpart, which provides results that speak for themselves. It’s also more important to note the type of technology that CoolTone™ is using vs. Emsculpt®. While HIFEM® technology does work well, Dr. Austin is always looking for the newest technologies to provide optimum results.
