What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?
Sufferers of flat, sagging, or asymmetrical buttocks often find that the appearance of their body is not as perky, firm, or youthful as it once may have been. Often, as the effects of aging and life take hold, it becomes difficult to achieve the appearance you desire despite efforts with diet or exercise. A Brazilian butt lift is a popular form of cosmetic surgery that involves injecting the buttocks with body fat removed from other areas of the body. The surgery is meant to restore the butt to a firmer, rounder, more sensual appearance.
How Does Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery Work?
Dr. Austin and Dr. Isakson perform Brazilian butt lifts at Evans Surgery Center as an outpatient procedure. Fat extraction is performed through the process of liposuction, in which Dr. Austin or Dr. Isakson harvest fat from one or more areas of the body. The harvested fat is processed through centrifugation and purified to inject the buttocks with the best donor fat cells through a series of tiny microinjections that will be placed along the buttocks and outer hips to help achieve a rounder appearance. Usually, as much as 60 percent of the fat injected will remain in the buttocks providing a perkier shape, but like all fat cells, they are subject to weight change and fluctuation.
What is the Recovery Period for Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery?
After surgery you will be given a compression garment to decrease bruising and swelling. The required recovery time is different for all individuals, but you should expect to take three to five days off work. You will be instructed to refrain from adding direct pressure to the treated area for 10 to 14 days. Our patients find it most helpful to sit on a pillow between your thighs in order to redistribute your weight comfortably.
What Results Can I Expect After a Brazilian Butt Lift?
Our patients commonly report improved volume and projection of their buttocks along with a restoration to a firmer and rounder shape after a complete recovery. Our patients also report improved self-esteem, higher levels of happiness, and a more complimenting appearance.
BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) FAQs
How long does a Brazilian Butt Lift last?
Although the results from a Brazilian butt lift can take a few months to fully develop, once they do, they will last for years. In fact, many patients enjoy BBL results that last several years. An exact timeline is difficult to predict, as the specific duration of your results will depend on your lifestyle habits, genetics and other factors.
How long does BBL surgery take?
The BBL surgery typically takes between two and four hours to perform. The procedure requires this amount of time because it involves multiple surgical techniques; both liposuction for removing fat from the desired area of the body and the injection process during which that fat is transferred to the buttocks.
How painful is a BBL surgery?
The BBL surgery itself is not painful, as it is performed with advanced anesthetic techniques that nearly eliminates any discomfort. However, there may be some pain and soreness following the BBL procedure, primarily in the first few days following treatment. This discomfort may vary but rarely lasts longer than a week. By following the proper recovery protocol, you can minimize the duration and severity of any post-operative symptoms.
How should I sit after a BBL?
It is important to avoid sitting directly on the buttocks following the BBL procedure, as the treatment area will be sensitive, and any excess stress can impact your results. You can use a special cushion to minimize the pressure on the treatment area when sitting. Otherwise, sitting should be kept to a minimum, and patients are encouraged to instead lay on their stomach or their sides.
Should I lose weight before a BBL?
Considering that your body fat is used to perform the BBL procedure, it is actually recommended that you are a few pounds over your ideal body weight prior to your BBL procedure. This ensures that you have enough fat to transfer to the buttocks. Following your procedure, we can help you develop dietary and exercise habits to maintain your results and your ideal body weight.
