Facial Implants in Augusta, GA
Facial implants can rejuvenate your face by adding volume and fullness to the cheekbones, erasing wrinkles and adding smoothness. At Southeastern Aesthetic Surgery, led by Dr. Troy Austin, a board-certified plastic surgeon, and Dr. Matthew Isakson, plastic surgeon, facial implants are provided for residents of Augusta, Evans, Columbia County, and nearby areas in Georgia. We are also happy to provide our services to residents of Aiken and the neighboring communities in South Carolina.
How do Cheek Implants enhance the face?
Typically, a solid implant is placed over the cheekbone to restore volume and definition to sunken cheeks or a mid-face that has lost volume and definition. You may also combine dermal filler treatments to further enhance sculpting of the facial contour.
What are the advantages of Facial Implants over other procedures?
Facial implants or cheek implants provide numerous advantages over other facial enhancement treatments. While dermal fillers and fat transfers may also enhance the mid-face region, these don’t provide permanent results, and even lifting procedures may last only a few years, requiring follow-up treatments. Facial implants are attached to the cheekbones using a tiny incision hidden above the gums, so they will remain in position permanently, making cheek implants the only facial rejuvenation treatment that produces permanent results. Perhaps the biggest benefit of facial implants is that, while permanent, the procedure is also reversible. So if you ever want to try a different size implant, Dr. Austin and Dr. Isakson can exchange the implants in five minutes. Among all facial rejuvenation procedures to improve the mid-face region, facial implants have gained widespread popularity with patients and doctors alike, because they outperform dermal injections, fat transfers, and lifting procedures, with less risk and downtime than other surgeries.
What types of Facial Implants do you provide?
Facial implants vary in materials, but most are made of surgical silicone, which yields a natural look and feel. Silicone implants carry an extremely low risk of infection or rejection, and this material has been used effectively in cosmetic procedures for decades. Facial implants increase volume only in specific areas: some specifically augment the cheekbones, while others may enhance the area beneath the eyes. We offer several varieties of facial implants, and you may choose from the following types:
- The malar shell implant augments volume in the actual cheekbones to produce a more sculpted facial contour.
- The submalar implant augments the sunken part of the cheek area under the eyes and alongside the bridge of the nose. This type of implant does not increase volume in the actual cheekbones.
- The combined submalar implant combines the submalar, and the malar shell implant is to augment, sculpt, and enhance the entire mid-face region.
How long does the procedure take?
Cheek implant surgery is a simple outpatient procedure that is safely performed in about 30 minutes, using either local anesthesia or IV sedation.
What about recovery after Facial Implants?
The recovery period following facial implant surgery is minimal and typically lasts only a few days. Most patients are able to resume normal activities after three to four days. You may experience some tightness when smiling and speaking for up to 10 days following the surgery, but this will subside naturally as your facial muscles adjust to the procedure.
