Radiofrequency Microneedling in Augusta, GA
Microneedling is a process that helps to rejuvenate the skin and reduce the appearance of lines and blemishes by helping the body produce elastin and collagen. Led by Dr. Troy Austin, a board-certified plastic surgeon, and Dr. Matthew Isakson, board-eligible plastic surgeon, Southeastern Aesthetic Surgery provide Secret™ RF Microneedling, the latest state-of-the-art system in microneedling, for residents of Augusta, Evans, Columbia County, and nearby areas in Georgia. We are also happy to provide our services to residents of Aiken and the neighboring communities in South Carolina.
What is Radiofrequency Microneedling?
Microneedling is a skin care treatment that encourages collagen production using a handheld device loaded with micro (very tiny) needles. These needles make microscopic punctures in the skin that help the body to increase collagen production. Collagen heals the skin, increasing volume and smoothing imperfections. Secret™ RF Microneedling can treat and reduce the appearance of a number of skin imperfections on the face and body such as scars, wrinkles, sun damage, uneven skin tone, stretch marks, and enlarged pores.
How Does Secret™ RF Microneedling Work?
Secret™ RF Microneedling uses a disposable sterilized tip with an automatic sensing function to administer fractional RF energy deep into the skin, remodeling the dermis (the deep layer of skin) by forming new collagen. The result is tighter and healthier skin. Secret™ RF Microneedling also selectively destroys melanocytes in the epidermis. Melanocytes produce melanin (pigment), which lead to the development of dark spots and hyperpigmentation on the skin.
Secret™ RF Microneedling is performed in the office by Kayla Rhein, our cosmetic laser practitioner, and typically takes approximately 15-30 minutes to complete depending on the size of the treatment area. Most of our patients see a significant improvement after the first treatment, with optimal results seen after three treatments.

Does Secret™ RF Microneedling Hurt?
Before a Secret™ RF Microneedling treatment, a topical anesthetic will be applied to your skin in the treatment areas to ensure your comfort.
What Happens After Secret™ RF Microneedling?
Immediately after a Secret™ RF Microneedling treatment, your skin will be red, warm, and slightly swollen. The warm feeling will subside within a few hours. Some redness and minor swelling can last up to 24 hours. The majority of patients return to work the next day. Your skin will be sensitive for the first 24 hours after treatment, and you should avoid direct sunlight, and touching or picking at the treatment areas. Some patients may require multiple treatment sessions to produce the desired results. Dr. Austin and Dr. Isakson will discuss recovery and the number of treatment sessions required during your consultation. Down time ranges from one hour to two days depending on the intensity of the treatment. Final results are seen in approximately 3 to 6 months.
