What Is Sculptra® recommended for?
Sculptra® is a versatile dermal filler that provides gradual, continuous improvements in skin volume and elasticity by triggering increased production of collagen, a substance produced naturally in the body that supports healthy skin cells, increasing elasticity and volume in the skin, and producing a natural, gradual reduction in lines and wrinkles.
What makes Sculptra® unique?
Sculptra®’s most remarkable advantage is the fact that results appear gradually and naturally as the skin responds to increased production of collagen. Sculptra® is thicker and more viscous than other fillers, and gradually improves skin volume and firmness in facial skin that has been damaged by the aging process as well as exposure to the natural elements and environmental toxins. Thanks to its viscous consistency, Sculptra® treatments produce longer-lasting results than many other dermal fillers, usually lasting up to two years or more.
What is Sculptra recommended for?
Sculptra® is most effective at treating hollow cheeks, adding volume and fullness to bony cheekbones, diminishing nasolabial folds that run from the edges of the nose to the edges of the mouth, and vertical marionette lines that run from the edges of the mouth to the chin. Sculptra® also fills in a hollow chin area, defining the jawline and reducing the appearance of jowls. It can also be used to treat hollow temples and may be used in various areas of the body. Sculptra® may also be combined with other dermal fillers such as Juvederm® or Restylane® to achieve a more comprehensive makeover.
Who should consider Sculptra®?
Almost any healthy adult who wants to increase facial volume may be an ideal candidate for Sculptra®. Sculptra® is particularly recommended for older patients who want to improve sagging skin without plastic surgery. Sculptra® may not be for you if you are allergic to lidocaine, or if you are currently pregnant or nursing. Patients with lupus, Sjogren’s Syndrome, or rheumatoid arthritis or other autoimmune diseases may not be suitable candidates for Sculptra®.
Will I require follow-up treatments with Sculptra®?
Sculptra® treatments will last up to two years in most patients, but you will need yearly follow-up treatments for maintenance, so the results don’t diminish between treatments. Typically, you will see your full results about 45-90 days after the initial treatment, as your body increases production of collagen.
