What is Juvederm®?
Juvederm® is an effective filler formula that contains hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance produced naturally in the body that helps keep skin hydrated. Juvederm® eliminates the appearance of lines and wrinkles because HA promotes a gradual increase in the skin’s natural hydration, causing lines, wrinkles, and creases to disappear naturally by making the skin naturally more toned and smooth.
What is the science behind Juvederm®?
HA production diminishes in the body as we age, reducing the capacity of skin cells to absorb and retain moisture. This leads to sagging skin, lines, and wrinkles, as well as loss of volume in the face. Juvederm® is made with natural plant-sourced HA, which binds with water to help skin cells retain moisture. Over time, the increased HA in the body produces plumper and firmer skin cells. Juvederm® injections allow for precise delivery of HA directly to target areas to encourage increased hydration and gradually remove wrinkles, lines, and creases in those areas.
Who is Juvederm® recommended for?
Since Juvederm® uses natural ingredients, there is the little occurrence of allergic or adverse reaction to it, and it is safe for almost any healthy adult. Juvederm® is especially recommended for patients who want to improve elasticity and smoothness in the skin, resulting in increased firmness and volume through natural, improved hydration.
What conditions does Juvederm® treat?
Juvederm® works very well in various areas of the face, but is specifically designed to treat deep nasolabial folds, or "parentheses lines", that extend from the outer edge of the nose to the corners of the mouth.
What makes Juvederm® so popular?
Juvederm® has remained a popular treatment among both doctors and patients because it is safe, made from natural ingredients, minimally invasive, and effective at smoothing wrinkles, lines, and creases in the face by gradually supporting increased hydration, adding volume and fullness to skin cells. Juvederm® is a great complement to cosmetic surgery or may help you put off surgery for a few years.
Do Juvederm® injections hurt?
We take great care to prevent any discomfort during the procedure by numbing the treatment area with a topical anesthetic prior to treatment. Juvederm® is a very thin and smooth gel that is injected directly into the skin using an extremely fine-gauge needle, and most patients experience no discomfort because the product has a silky smooth consistency and contains lidocaine, an effective numbing agent. Treatment usually lasts 30 to 60 minutes, and you will see some improvement immediately followed by gradual, continued improvement over time.
What about downtime with Juvederm®?
There is no downtime with Juvederm®, and you may resume regular activities immediately after treatment.
How long do Juvederm® results last?
Typically, the results of a single Juvederm® treatment may last about one year.
