Breast Augmentation in Augusta, GA

Breast Augmentation in Augusta, GA

Breast size and shape is often important to many women. We want our bodies to make us feel comfortable and confident, not insecure or inadequate. It’s very common for women to consider breast enhancement to help them gain more confidence in themselves and their bodies. If you’re one of these women, here’s what you need to know before undergoing the procedure.

Choose Your Breast Implant

There are two different types of implants you can choose from when undergoing breast augmentation: you can choose to have saline implants or silicone implants. What’s the difference between the two?

  • Saline Breast Implants. Saline implants are filled with a salt water-like solution that’s held within a silicone shell. These implants are placed into the breast cavity through a small incision, then are filled after they are placed in the body.
  • Silicone Gel-Filled Breast Implants. Silicone implants are made of a silicone gel that’s surrounded by a silicone outer shell. This type of implant is filled before being placed into the breast cavity and requires a slightly larger incision to be made during surgery.

Dr. Troy Austin at Southeastern Aesthetics Plastic Surgery will help you make the decision between the two breast implants during your consultation. He will also help you to determine which size breast implant will help you achieve your desired look.

What to Expect During Recovery from your Breast Augmentation

The first thing you want to do to prepare for recovery is to recruit a buddy. This may be a family member, significant other or close friend. Your buddy will be the one to drive you home after your surgery and help you get around the house for the first few days after surgery. After the first week, you can start to gradually get back to your normal daily routine. We also recommend you sleep on your back for the first several weeks after your procedure to help your breasts keep their new size and shape.

Should I Get a Breast Lift with my Augmentation?

The answer to this question is completely and totally dependent on your desired results. While breast implants and breast augmentation can help to increase volume and fullness in women’s breasts, it cannot help to lift the position of the breast. If you’re concerned about where your breasts fall on your chest, you should definitely consider having a breast lift in addition to your breast augmentation. The good thing about doing so is that both procedures can be bundled together. Your breast lift and breast augmentation can be done at the same time to cut down on downtime and recovery. The bundle will also be cheaper than getting the two done separately.

The Possibility of Breast Implant Illness

We understand any concern you may have about the possibility of getting breast implant illness (BII). BII is a rare autoimmune condition characterized by women having chronic fatigue, soreness, aches and pains after their breast augmentation. While this is not a diagnosable condition, it has been recognized enough to turn into a movement of women opting to have their breast implants removed. At SEA Plastic Surgery, we offer breast explant surgery for patients who experience BII or other complications regarding their breast implants. Talk to Dr. Troy Austin about your concerns with BII during your one-on-one consultation. He’ll sit down with you and help you find the right solution for your body’s needs and your aesthetic goals.
